Saul listened to Jonathan, and swore by the life of the Lord that David[a] would not be killed. Jonathan summoned David and told him all this.[b] Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and David[c] served him[d] as before.

Saul Again Tries to Kill David

The war continued and David went out to fight against the Philistines. He thoroughly defeated them,[e] and they fled before David.[f]
